Appendtz
B contains the PCSTABLS computer printout. For the South Waste Rock Disposal
Area, the calculated factor of safety against slope instability wa; 2.1 for static, and
1.4 for pseudostatic conditions for the operational configuration. These safety factors
represent analysis of the overall slope. Since each lift is at the jangle of repose for
the material, minor slope ravelling is to be expected, especi#Ily during seismic
loading.
For the reclaimed slope configuration, the calculated fac:tpr oC safety was 2.3
for static and 1.5 for pseudostatic stability. Because of the slope regrading, the
incidence of minor ravelling will be reduced after reclamation.
TABLE D.3.5-1
SUMMARY OF SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSES
STATIC FOS PSE OSTATIC FOS
South Waste Rock Disposal Area
Operational Configuration 2.1 1.4
Post-Reclamation Configuration 2.3 1.5
Waste Rock Disposal Area B
Operational Configuration 2.2 1.4
1
1
1
1
1

Y
A summary of the Waste Rock Disposal Area B stability ~rtalysis is shown on
Figure D.3-2. Appendix C contains the computer printout. For Waste Rock
Disposal Area B, the calculated factor of safety was 2.2 fort static and 1.4 for
pseudostatic stability for the operational configuration (Table p.3.5-1). For the
reclaimed scope configuration, the results from the analysed completed in the
approved permit are still valid since the temporary lift will be removed before fmal
reclamation. Operationally, minor surface ravelling is to be ezpe~ted, and considered
acceptable.
Based on the stability analyses, the performance of the #evised Waste Rock
disposal areas will be acceptable. The safety factors resuitirt~g from the current
analyses are consistent with the values obtained for the orig~rtal waste disposal
designs in the approved permit.
aY ~ D-13 sect o.
