Ditch and Culvert Design for Lone Pine Gulch Light Use Road
Drainage ditches and culverts for the Lone Pine Gulch (LPG) fan bench
light use road have been designed to allow a 10-year/24-hour precipitation event to
safely pass. Peak runoff calculations were performed using the SCS Curve
Number 1~Iethod (National Engineering Handbook, Section 4, Hydrology, March,
19S5, and "Urban Hydrology far Small Watersheds", Technical Release No. 55,
1975) supplemented with tables provided in the "Procedures for Determining Peak
Flows in Colorado" (March, 1950).
Peak Runoff Calculation
Table 1.0 presents the parameter and source for peak ninoff calcu]ations. A
10-year/24-hour storm event is expected to produce a peak runoff of five cubic feet
per second for both Lone Pine Gulch and Gribble Gulch. The subwatershed on the
north facing Hillside between Lone Pine C=ulch and Gribble Gulch, and above the
proposed fan bench location, encompasses approximately SO acres. Peak nanoff
from this hillside is expected to be one cubic feet per second.
2
