PUBLIC NOTICE
<br />MINREC, INC., 2768 Compass Drive, STE 101, Grand Junction, CO 81506, has submitted
<br />an application for renewal of a valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining in Colorado to
<br />the Division of Minerals and Geology for its North Thompson Creek Mines, mining permit
<br />no. C-81-025.
<br />The mine permit area is located in Pitkin County in lands located in Sections 21, 22, 27,
<br />28, 33, 34, 35, T. 8 S., R. 89 W., 6th P.M. and Sections 2, 3, 4, T. 9 S., R. 89 W., 6th P.M.
<br />The mine permit area encompasses 3300 acres. The loadout permit is located in Garfield
<br />County in lands located in Lots 10, 11, 12, and 16, Section 20; and Lots 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7,
<br />Section 29, T. 7 S., R. 88 W., 6th P.M. During 1993 a technical revision was approved
<br />which removed the Diamond-A Parcel from the loadout permit area which is all of the
<br />permit area located north and east of the center of the Roaring Fork River. The Diamond-
<br />A Parcel is located in Garfield County in that portion of the permit area located north and
<br />east of the center of the Roaring Fork River in Township 7 South, Range 88 West, 6th P.
<br />M., Section 20, Lots 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16, and Section 29, Lots 2, 3 and 4. The mine-
<br />loadout haul road traverses Sections 29, 30, and 32, T. 7 S., R. 88 W., and Section 6 T.
<br />8 S., R. 88 W., 6th P.M. The loadout permit area was 65 acres. After the Diamond-A
<br />parcel was removed from the permit area, the permit area encompasses 36 acres.
<br />The mine and loadout permit areas can be located on the U.S.G.S. 7.5 minute Stony Ridge
<br />and Carbondale, CO quadrangle maps respectively. The total permit area is 3336 acres
<br />of which 1516 acres is on Federal land.
<br />A copy of the permit renewal application is available for public inspection at the Garfield
<br />County Clerk and Recorders Office, Garfield County Courthouse, Glenwood Springs, CO
<br />and at the offices of the Division. Written comments, objections or a request for an
<br />informal conference on the proposed permit renewal may be submitted to and additional
