I have been advised that negotiations are on-going between Westmoreland Coal _ __
Company and The New Elk Mine Company regarding the sale of the Golden Eagle
Permit, C-1981-013.
Be advised that I will object to any sucl- sale until such time as the Interior Board
of Land Appeals renders a decision on the Appeal filed this date.
This communication is my notice to Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety,
and the United States Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining, o£my
objection to any sale concerning the Golden Eagle Permit No. C-1983-013 and further,
that T am requesting that T be notified o£ the date and time any hearings will be had for the
public to comment on and participate in any sale, transfer or assignment of the Golden
Eagle Permit C-1981-013.
As a courtesy, T am providing each of you with a copy of the Appeal filed this
date, sans exhibits.
