NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Nfinerals and Geology proposes to withdraw Technical Revision Applications <br />No. 6 (TR-6) and No. 7 (TR-07) for the Bowie No. 2 Ivtine (Permit No. C-96-083) and Technical <br />Revision No. 30 (TR-30) for the Bowie No. 1 Mine (Permit No. C-81-038). submitted by Bowie <br />Resources Limited. Technical Revision No. 6 would have allowed for the construction of a coal <br />conveyor, coal storage area and a truck loadout and the relocation of one sedimentation pond at the <br />Bowie No. 2 lv[ine. Technical Revision No. 7 would have permitted longwall mining within the <br />curren[ly approved Bowie No. 2 permit area and an increase in produc[ion from 2 million tons per year <br />to ~ million tons per year. Technical Revision No. 30 would have allowed for an increase in the annual <br />produc[ion at the Bowie No. 1 train loadout from the Curren[ maximum permitted 1.7 million tons to a <br />maximum of 4 million tons. <br />It is understood by the Division that the issues in Technical Revisions Nos. 6 and 7 will be proposed <br />aeain by Bowie Resources in one forthcoming permit revision. It is also understood by the Division that <br />Technical Revision No. 30 will be resubmitted as a technical revision a[ a later date. Upon the complete <br />submittal of this forthcoming permit revision and technical revision, public notices in this newspaper <br />will announce the appropriate public comment periods. <br />The Bowie No. 2 iYiine is an underground coal mine located in Delta County, approximately 5 miles <br />northeast of Paonia, Colorado. Coal interest is private, and the surface affected is private land. The <br />permit area encompasses approximately 2,327.0 acres. <br />The Bowie No. 1 Mine is an underground mine located in Delta County, approximately 3 miles north <br />of Paonia, Colorado. The Bowie No. 1 Mine loadout is located about 2 miles east of Paonia, Colorado, <br />adjacent to Highway 133. Coal interest is federal and private, and the surface affected is federal and <br />private land. The permit area encompasses approximately 8,149.0 acres. <br />Copies of the proposed decision are on file for public inspection at the Colorado Division of Minerals <br />and Geology, Room 215, Centennial Buildin„ 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203. Persons <br />with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing <br />before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the proposed decision. Such request must be made within <br />ten {10) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable <br />specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed decision. <br />
