Long <br /> r <br />~ <br />J Division Director <br />RE: Request For Assistance, Technical Revision No. 8, Add West Pod To Mine Plan, <br /> Update )Mine Plan Map and Update Subsidence Informa tion, Bowie No. 2 Mine, <br /> Permit No. C-96-083, Bowie Resources Limited <br />1 am requesting your assistance in reviewing Bowie Resources' (BRL) latest technical revisions. Because <br />there is a delay in getting the Iron Poilt[ Tract federal lease and in getting approval for longwall mining <br />(TR-06 and TR-07 were withdrawn so that they can submit [he same information in a permit revision), <br />BRL is running out of places to mine. BRL's solution is contained in TR-08 and TR-09. [n TR-08, BRL <br />is proposing to reopen the west section of the permit area for consideration. This section had initially been <br />approved in the original permit application but was subsequently dropped from their mine plan. Now they <br />want to bring it back. Of special consideration is the effect of mining on Terror Creek and the Terror <br />Creek Ditch to the west of the permit boundary. The permit application correspondence concerning the <br />original mine plan is in my filing cabinet. <br />To get to the west pod, BRL has to construct rock tunnels across a fault and go up 35 feet, to get to the <br />coal on the other side of the fault. In light of this, BRL has updated the subsidence section of [he permit. <br />However, BRL states that this submittal is essentially the same as the withdrawn TR-07. However, TR-07 <br />was a result of [he withdrawal of TR-02. This sounds confusing! 1 suggest [hat you look a[ [he subsidence <br />information in the approved permit application and compare it with the proposed revised subsidence <br />information in TR-08. <br />BRL is also taking this opportunity to update the mine plan map to show [he current and [he anticipated <br />future mining configuration. <br />This TR was called complete on February 18, 1999. Adequacy comments are due March 19, 1999. As <br />explained initially, Bowie needs this TR reviewed in an expeditious manner so that [hey can continue to <br />mine. <br />Attached is one complete copy of TR-08. I Have also included a copy of the original approved mine plan <br />map and [tte currently approved mine plan map. The approved subsidence information is, of course, in the <br />permit application.
