As we discussed, the new due date is June 1, 1997. This will give you two
opportunities to seed the stockpiles: from October 1, 1996, until first freeze, and bl::fore June 1,
1997, after the ground [haws.
After reviewing the files, it was determined that the referenced pits are the only two (of the five
pits you outlined in your letter) that require topsoil seeding.
The Robert Smythe Pit, M-78-094, had three corrective actions. You have already completed at
least two of the three problems. I'll inspect the site on June 12, 1996, to see if the regrading,
discing, etc., was completed.
The corrective actions on the Mirage Pit, M-77-570, are to be completed prior to submitting a
request for release (no specific date).
You were to remove the asphalt waste from the San Isabel Pit, M-84-044, by June 1, 1996. I may
re-inspect this site on June 12, 1996, unless you have already removed the material icall and let
me know).
I do not have a file for the Alexander Pit. Where is the site located?
If you have any questions, give me a call.
Sincerely,
!~' r
James Dillie
Environmental Protection Specialist
JD/bjw
191W~SAGUACHE.IU
