Cadany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Pazagraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on June 3, 2005, an application to renew an <br />existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Seneca II-W Mine was considered complete for the <br />purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining <br />Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Seneca Coal Company proposes to continue surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land <br />located approximately 9 miles south of Hayden, Colorado. The permit azea is further described as follows: <br />TSN, R88W; All of Section 15; Portions of Sections 9, 1Q 11, 14, 16, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 34, and 35 <br />T6N, R88W; Portions of Sections 14, 23 and 24 <br />T6N, R87W; Portions of Sections 17, 18, 19 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Hayden Gulch, <br />Hayden, Dunckley, Mt. Harris. <br />This permit renewal application would allow for renewal of Permit C-1982-057 for a new five yeaz permit <br />term, which would extend to December 31, 2010. The application does not propose any expansion of <br />approved permit boundaries or surface disturbance acreage, nor does it propose any changes to approved <br />mining or reclamation plans. <br />Your comments and concerns relating to the adequacy of fish and wildlife resources information, the fish <br />and wildlife plan, and the reclamation plan as it relates to fish and wildlife considerations, including <br />potential impacts to threatened or endangered species, are requested. If wildlife habitat is the proposed <br />postmining land use, we request your evaluation of proposed woody plant stocking levels, planting <br />arrangements, and methods for mitigation of potential adverse impacts. <br />A copy of the renewal application, as well as the complete set of currently approved permit application <br />documents, is available for public inspection at the Hayden Public Library, 201 E.
