All reviews and comment periods as <br />provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from this <br />day of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to continue conducting reclamation operations at the <br />Colorado Coal Mine No. 1. The permit area is located in portions of <br />Section 25, Township 27 South, Range 67 West of the 6th P.M., and is four <br />miles northwest of the town of Walsenburg, Colorado. The above-mentioned <br />tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Walsenburg North. <br />In order for us to approve this renewal application, we are required to <br />confirm that projections and assumptions in the permit remain valid and that <br />the operation is in compliance with the approved permit. We are requesting <br />your agency's evaluation of the renewal application with respect to the <br />continued validity of the original finding that "the proposed operations will <br />not adversely affect any publicly owned park or place listed on or those <br />places eligible for listing, as determined by the SHPO, on the National <br />Register of Historic Places, unless approved jointly by the Board and the <br />Federal, State, or local agency with jurisdiction over the park or place." <br />Enclosed are pertinent portions of the renewal and/or the original <br />application, including a mine plan map. Please advise us if you require <br />additional information. In order for us to comply with regulatory time <br />frames, we request that comments be submitted to Wallace H. Erickson, <br />Division of Minerals and Geology at the above address by 5:00 p.m. on <br />November 30, 1993. If no comments are received by this date, we will proceed <br />on the assumption that your agency has no concerns with or objections to the <br />applicant's proposal. <br /> <br />STATE OF COLORADO <br />
