Considering the top-down
construction method and the final planned slope of 3H:1 V, drainage structures, if needed,
could be built in the toe of the slope before the facility is filled and graded to its ultimate
configuration.
January 11, 2001 Letter Gregg Squire to Steve Onorofskie
Item 2 of Mr. Squire's letter requested inforntation on the reclamation of the haul road [hat
would access the East Pit. Haul roads within the pit footprint would be consumed over the
course of the mine life and would be "reclaimed" as the pit is concurrently backfilled, regraded
and revegetated. For reclamation platu»ng, the "Ex-Pit" haul road has been divided into two
units:
• The fill between Stations 2+00 to 7+00, and
• The cudfill slopes from 0+00 to 2+00 and from 7+00 [0 36+00 (pit limit)
The fill (approximately 65,700 cubic yards) between station 2+00 and 7+00 will be regraded on
to the west side of the valley (north and south of the existing fill) with slopes no steeper than
3H:1V and revegetated. About 75 percent of this fill, or 50,000 cubic yards, will require
relocation. The culvert that penetrates the fill will be removed and either sold for salvage or
disposed of in the county landfill. It is assumed that this work will be conducted using a 300 HP
bulldozer or equivalent. Topsoil outside [he immediate footprint of the existing fill will be
salvaged and replaced atop the regraded material. The estimated cost of this effort (excluding
revegetation which is estimated separately) is approximately $140,500.
The cut/fill slopes from station 0+00 to 2+00 and from 7+00 to the final pit limit will be
reclaimed to almost approximate original contour. The sketches below illustrate the proposed
haul road cross sections during operation and post closure.
'(/, IROIIYAfE FlIETIXC GROUND EYIIFACE
'"
R
I
"'
\\\ /[OMIFiEXT FOIWOCM [U1 LLOpE
\
\/
~A
\ 14RVEL EYRFI[F COMI1[iLD TILL
\ ~~~ '~' / FI
ELOIE
LL
w+y`~ ~ /
FF ~
{
C~~j~~
~Cvr.!~.
Proposed Haul Road Profile
`k" ~CDYIEFEXI LOIIIgOCX CUL ELOIF
~/ RENVEG FOIYOFOIND
FiAiEO EURIACE
~y~~j/ ~(~_/ .AppROFIYAlE L11LlIMO OROVMO FYRIALL
l/
\~ ~ % ~.
/ //~ LOMIACTEO RILL
.X~~/ FILL LLOEE
X~\. ~y.
:~ _ N
Reclaimed Haul Road Profile
\\FS]\GiLLIGAN\16006\1645A\VW\61a1e Fesponsa tloc
