Cattany <br />Colorado Department of Health Division Director <br />Water Quality Control Division Permit Section Natural Resource Trustee <br />4300 Cherry Creek Drive South <br />Denver, CO 80222-1530 <br />Re: Bear Mine (Permit No. C-1981-033) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 5 (RRN-5) <br />Dear Ms. Kieler: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on January 19, 2007, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct <br />coal mining operations at the Bear Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods <br />as provided in the Colorndo Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Bear Coal Company, Inc. proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located <br />approximately 0 miles East of Somerset, Colorado. The permit azea is further described as follows: <br />Portions of SeMions 8, 9, and 15; all of Section l6; portions of Sections 17, 18, 20, and 21 Township l3 South, Range 90 West <br />of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Somerset. <br />Bear Coal Company, Inc proposes to continue reclamation operations on land located near the town of Somerset, Colorado. <br />The Bear No. 3 mine is an underground coal mine that is in permanent cessation. The permit renewal is for another five year <br />term. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Gunnison County Clerk and Recorder, 200 E. <br />Virginia, Gunnison, CO 81230, and at the Division office. For additional information, to provide written comments, or request <br />an informal conference, contact the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567, within thirty (30) days after the last public notice in the Delta County /ndependent. <br />Sincerely, <br />~~ <br />seph J.
