.o
MEMORRn®um 999
Gary Goodell ,
To Operational Planner August 12 , 1961
„ Curt ParkerFlom , Engineering Tecfinician
Docket #'SU-81-10, Deepe Farm-Flatiron Sand and Gravel Pit
iebNet:
The Public Works Department staff has reviewed the proposed Deepe Farm
Sand and Gravel Operation and has the following comments :
Transoortation
1. The tragic report that was submitted projects that 93 truck trips
will be generated per day on the average (186 one-way trips per
day) . The ir..pact of the operation on adjacent highway capacity
will be slight, particularly since periods of peak hauling will
not coincide with peak traffic periods.
2. The secondary access to the gravel pit will be via County Road 51
(Marshall Rcad) to SR 93. The condition of this roadway and the
impact of heavy haul trucks on it neees to be evaluated further.
3. The haul road connection to County Road 51 should be paved in the
vicinity of existing residences to mitigate dust problems. .
4. The City of Boulder should address the transportation impacts
from the operation of trucks north onto Table Mesa Drive.
Fiood:iain Imoacts
5. As stated in the development report the majority of the site is
protected by a recently constructed flood control berm and
channel so that cniy lands east of the berm will be subject to
100-year flooding. Excavation in the area east of the berm will
create some temporary storage for flood water enterin; that area,
but will have little overall effect on downstream flood conditions .
The construction and impacts of the flood control berm and channel
were reviewed by the Public Works Department for Docket BAR-79-4
(a copy of the Public Works Department's comments concerning that
docket is attached) . Care must be taken durino excavation and
reclamation nct to damage or structurally undermine the flood
control berm and channel , including protective riprap (see
attached Section AA) .
Reclamation Plan
E. The propcsed reclamEtion plan shows the majority of the property
except for the proposed lake areas being returned to elevations
wmi
EXHIBIT NO.4
