Long <br /> Division Duector <br />Re: Proposed Decision <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 4 (RN-4) <br />West Elk Mine (Permit No. C-1980-007) <br />Deaz Gunnison County Commissioners: <br />This letter is to inform you that the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology is proposing to Approve a renewal <br />application for a coal mining and reclamation permit. The application was submitted by Mountain Coal Company, <br />LLC on February 2, 2001, for the West Elk Mine. <br />Any person with an interest which may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal <br />hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd within 30 days of the first publication of this notice by the <br />Division in the Delta County Independent. <br />The Underground mine is located approximately 9 miles East of Paonia, Colorado. The permit area is further <br />described as follows: <br />Potions or all of Sections 9, 10, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34, 35, and 36, Township <br />13 South, Range 90 Wes[ of the 6th P.M.; and potions or all of Sections 23, 24, 25, and 26, Township 13 South, <br />Range 9l West of the 6th P.M. <br />Copies of the renewal application are available for public review in the Division offices at the above address and at <br />the Gunnison County Clerk and Recorder's Office.
