<br /> <br />Notice of Proposed Decision <br />The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division has issued a proposed decision to <br />approve a request fora reduction in the hood amount for the North Thompson <br />Creek Mine, Permit No. C-31-025, operated by Snowmass Coal Co. under the <br />provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. <br />The sites for which the bond reduction is heing requested is the North <br />Thompson Creek Mine Site and the farhondale loadout site. The mine site is <br />located in the S1/2 NE/4, Section 3a, and the NWI/4, Wl/2 NF1/4, Section 35, <br />T.BS., R.89W., 6th P. M. The loadout is located in lots 10, 11, 12 and 1F, <br />Section 20 and lots 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7, Section 29, T. 7. S., R.88W., 6th P. M. <br />The haul road associated with the loadout crosses Sections 5 and 6, T.85., <br />R.88W., 6th P.M. and Sections 29, 30 and 32. T.7S., R.88W., 6th P. M. These . <br />areas are located on the II.S.6.S. 7.5 minute Stony Ridge and Carbondale, <br />Colorado Quadrangle maps. The bond reduction is heing requested on~67 of the <br />~6~acres approved for surface disturbances at the mine site and for the total <br />X60 acres approved for surface disturbance at the loadout site. The present <br />~ond amount is 5804,300.00 and a reduction to E321,720.00 is being requested. <br />The removal of surface facilities at both sites was completed in August 1987. <br />The sealing of the No. 3 Mine was completed in September 1986. The sealing of <br />the No. 1 Mine was completed in July 1987. Regrading of the refuse pile was <br />completed in October 1986 and regrading of the mine site and loadout site was <br />completed in October 1987. These reclamation activities were done in <br />accordance with plans approved by Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division. <br />Any person with a valid legal interest which might be affected by the release <br />of this bond, or any Federal, State, or local government agency which has <br />jurisdiction by law or special expertise with respect to any environmental, <br />social, or economic impact involved with the operation, or is authorized to <br />develop or enforce environmental standards with respect to such operations, <br />shall have the right to file written objections to or comments upon the <br />requested release from bond, and file a request for an informal conference <br />with the Division within thirty (30) days of issuance of the proposed decision <br />by the Division. <br />Copies of the Division's decision are available for review at the Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Division offices, 423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman <br />Street, Denver, Colorado A0203, and at the Pitkin and Garfield County clerk's <br />offices. <br />
