No adit existed
at the time East west Mining took over the operation from Harry
Covey, sinking of the shaft to the Phil Sheridan Tunnel would
be the most economical and feasible way to mine the ore bodies
existin~~ at the Phil Sheridan Lode. The shaft will be sunk
to the one hundred twenty foot level, from the collar of the
shaft, t:o allow extraction of ore and exploration of existing
winze in the tunnel. The water draining from the Phil Sheridan
Tunnel, is at a rate of five gallons per hour, this water will
be diverted by way of a pipe to seal it away from any possible
contamination from the mining operations. Samples of the water
draining fpplNthe tunnel have been taken for analysis, the results
will be :submitted as part of the application for discharge,
to the Colorado Department of Health.
P1
