<br />Bowie Resources Limited, P.O. Box 483, Paonia, CO, 81428, has submitted an application
<br />for a technical revision to the Division of Minerals and Geology for its Bowie No. 2 Mine,
<br />mining permit No. C-96-083. The proposed revision will amend the mine plan to allow
<br />longwall mining in Federal and private coal at the west end of the D2 Panel and at the
<br />western edge of Bowie Resources Limited's fee coal property in the D3 Panel. Approximately
<br />904,000 tons of private coal and 286,000 tons of Federal coal will be recovered as a result
<br />of the approval of this technical revision application.
<br />All of the mine facilities except a pump station and sediment pond are located north of old
<br />State Highway 133 near the town of Bowie, CO. The Fire Mountain Canal is located south
<br />of the mine facilities. The railroad and the North Fork of the Gunnison River are also located
<br />south of the mine facilities. The mine permit area is located on the U.S. Geological Survey
<br />7.5 minute Bowie Quadrangle map within the following sections.

<br />The approved Bowie No. 2 Mine permit area contains 2551 acres of land, 2174 acres are
<br />private surface and 377 acres are Federal surface. Private minerals within the permit area
<br />encompass 1906 acres with Federal minerals accounting for the balance of 645 acres. A
<br />concurrent permit action (TR-016) will change the permit area so it contains 2850 acres of
<br />land, 2343 acres of private surface and 507 acres of Federal surface.
