Harvested Herbaceous Plant Materials
Herbaceous wetland plants collected from preserved wetlands will be used to
supplement seeding in new wetland areas. Eight- to ten-inch diameters plugs be
collected and placed in new wetlands of the same type. Individual holes dug for
collection will be a minimum of 5-feet apart. Following excavation of the transplant,
the edge of the collection hole will be angle-cut with a spade or shovel. This dirt will
then be pushed back into the hole. A slight depression will remain. Plugs will be
transplanted upon excavation and spaced at approximately 5- to 15-foot intervals.
Seeding Guidelines
Seeding
Al] mined and disturbed areas will be seeded with native seed. Those areas that
exhibit a hydrologic regime capable of sustaining wetlands will be seeded with the
wetland seed mix specified. This mix also contains dryland native seed to allow for
adaptation to variable hydrologic conditions. The seed schedules and plant species
list have been revised to reflect some of the review comments of the Boulder Counry
botanist.
Dryland and Wetland Seed
Dryland and wetland seed will be applied in the appropriate zones. Dryland seed
will be applied above the anticipated high water line, and wetland seed between the .
average high water and edge of water. All grass seed famished will be delivered in
sealed bags showing weight, analysis, and vendor's name. The formula for
determining the quantity of pure live seed (PLS) will be:
Pounds of Seed (Bulk) xPurity xGermination =Pounds of PLS
Seed will be installed by the drilling method. Seeding will not be undertaken in
adverse weather and unsuitable ground conditions. Examples of these respective
conditions may be wind, precipitation, frozen or untillable ground, or conditions
detrimental to the effectiveness of the application. Seeding will be accomplished by
means of an approved power drawn drill, followed by drag chains.
Where access is limited, seeding will be accomplished by hand broadcasting seed
over the area. Where seed is hand broadcast, specified seeding rates will be doubled.
Western Mobile Lyons - Rockin' WP E-7
