The new total reclamafion bond estimate is $163,196.
As before, the packet consists of a summary sheet showing all task costs plus the indirect and contractor costs. This
is followed by the individual task sheets and by the equipment production sheets, You may note that there is much
less earthmoving cost, but the unit costs in each task have risen significantly since last year.
The largest change in reclamation tasks between this one and the last one, from April 2005, is the amount of
earthmoving and the methods used. The scrapers are no longer mobilized, and the D9 Dozer is used exclusively to
doze down the dump face, lateral doze a limited (western) portion of the dump, and perform minimal dump pad
grading. There is very little upslope dozing (see task 4). The economy in this recalculation of leaving this final
configuration of the pad (the top of the dump) after the amount of bonded dozing is done, will require that much
Future waste rock be placed in specific locations as it is generated, in order to meet the slope gradients and drainage
necessary to conform to the approved reclamation plan.
This is your notice of bond increase. The existing bond is a corporate surety in the amount of $74,932. This new
recalculation indicates the current reclamation costs to be $163,196, which is an increase of $88,264. Please
provide a rider to your corporate surety reflecting the new total bond amount. The increase must be submitted and
accepted by the Division within 60 days of the date of this letter.
If you have questions about the bond forms or procedures, please contact Ms. Suzi Ericksen at the Division's
Denver office (see letterhead address, above) or by telephone: 303-866-4920. If you have questions about the bond
figures contained in the enclosed packet, you may reach me at the Division's Durango field office: 701 Camino del
Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301; Telephone 970-247-5193.
Sincerely,
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Encl: reclamation cost packet (TR-02 updated)
Office of
Mined Land Reclamation
Office of
Active and Inactive Mines
