Bor 4s3 <br />Paonia, Colorado 81428 <br />RE: Technical Revision No. 7, Change In Mine Plan To Longwall Mining, <br />Bowie No. 2 Mine, Permit No. C-96-083, Bowie Resources Limited <br />Dear Mr. Bear: <br />x <br />DEPARTMENT Q <br />NATURAI <br />RESOURCE'S <br />Rov Romer <br />Governor <br />IamesS Loahheul <br />Eaeculioe Director <br />Michael B LOnF <br />Dioision Dnedor <br />In a telephone conversation with Bob Leachman of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Grand <br />Junction, this Division was informed that the anticipated water depletion resulting from the <br />longwall mining proposed in Technical Revision No. 7 will result in a fee for Bowie Resources. <br />In order to speed up the process of consultation approval of this issue, Bob suggested that Bowie <br />Resources send a letter to OSM now, committing to making payment to the Fish and Wildlife <br />Foundation for the anticipated water depletion. Once OSM has this letter on file, then the U.S. <br />Fish & Wildlife Service can refer to this letter and complete their consultation. Bowie Resources <br />has estimated the yeazly water depletion amount to be 182.5 acre-feet per year.
