Matthew S. Hayes
June 28, 1989
Page 15
"~ Maps"
Exhibit S-1 attached shows the proposed subsidence monitoring monuments for
the Northwest submain panels in the F seam, rather than incorporating this
information on Plates 4.O.A, 4.O.B and 4.O.C which present proposed subsidence
monitoring for the B seam. WECC felt that a detailed map of this azea of the
F seam was more appropriate for showing the monitoring of the Northwest
submain panels. The addition of a baz scale and section lines to the 22 Exhibits
and Plates listed, requiring not only excessive time but costly materials is not
justified. The majority of the Exhibits listed (2.7.A.1 through 2.7.A.15) contain
specific geologic data which was provided primarily for the benefit of the BLM
for the Resource Recovery and Protection Plan evaluation. Coordinates and scale
are provided on each of these maps. WECC proposes instead that the sections,
townships and ranges be added to the F Seam Mine Plan (Exhibit 3.4.A.1) along
with the coordinate lines so that these two Exhibits may be referenced for
sections, townships and ranges based on coordinate lines plotted on each map.
An overlay of coordinates, sections, townships and ranges may also be provided.
Map 3.4.4.b.1 was not included in this technical revision application. The Plates
within Exhibit 3.4.A.6 may also be referenced as necessary to the above men-
tioned plans.
The maps included in the technical revision application are direct copies from
the plotted maps and none have been reduced nor reproduced by other than
standard map copying methods. Therefore the scales presented on the maps aze
accurate (within the standazd level of variation) and need not be supplemented
by the addition of bar scales.
Exhibits 2.S.A.S and 2.8.A.6 were presented in a scale of 1"=2,000' would create
maps which are illegible. WECC suggests that these maps be used for side-by-
side comparison with other maps, rater than overlaying them.
WECC did not find any "symbols" on Plate 2.O.A suitable for a legend. The
maps show the outline of the pillars, pillaz fenders and stumps which remained
after mining. The squared shapes are full pillars and the irregulaz shapes are the
remainder of pillars which have been retreat mine. Cuts are also shown azound
the edges of the panels where the barrier was mined during retreat form the
panels.
