Matthew S. Hayes
June 28, 1989
Page 11
c. Typically, wells in the Mesaverde currently being monitored for the
F seam show a wide range of salinity as well. Papers published by
the USGS which discuss regional characteristics of the Mesaverde
have also shown a wide range of salinity data. Reasonably, we
would expect this in the lower coal member and the B seam.
d. Recent data has been added to update Tables 2.8.A.13, 2.S.A.14,
and 2.8.A.15. Due to the length of time necessary to construct the
B seam slopes and ventilation raise (approximately 10 months),
WECC will have collected in excess of 12 months of data before
actual B seam mining begins. WECC is currently collecting monthly
water levels, as well as a full suite quality data which exceeds
CMLRD requirements.
4. Additional information on the 1988 drill holes may be found in Appendix
A-29 as is referenced in the summary on page 2-283 across from the
words "1988 Drilling". Drilling and geophysical logs for SOM 127-H and
C-72-H were also provided in Attachments 1 and 2 of Exhibit 2.8.A.4 in
Volume lA of this technical revision application.
5. SOM-127-H is the only surface drill hole, but is not at the location
described. SOM-121 is located in the SE 1/4, SW 1/4, Section 21,
Township 135, R90W. This hole was drilled from the surface for coal
quality information, but was not completed for hydrology monitoring.
SOM U-3 was drilled from within the F seam mine, the "U" indicating
underground. SOM U-3 was incorrectly referred to as DH-3 in the
discussions of interburden analyses presented in Exhibit 3.4.A.5. SOM
U- and DH-3 aze one and the same.
6. WECC will acquire baseline monitoring data as required by the Colorado
Regulations for Coal Mining for permitting of mining in the E seam in the
future.
7. Figure 2.8.5.A was outdated and was therefore deleted. The reference to
Figure 2.8.5.A on page 2-531 has been changed to Figure 2.8.A.6,
"Comparison of Projected and Actual Mine Inflows", which contains current
inflow data and replaces the deleted diagram. The Table of Contents
reference has also been corrected.
