Walther <br />Executive Director <br />2126 North Weber Micnael e. tong <br />Colorado Springs, CO 80907 Division Director <br />Re: Golden Eagle Mine (Permit No. C-1981-013) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 53 (TR-53) <br />Reduce Hydrologic Monitoring <br />Dear SE Regional Wildlife Manager: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 6, 2002, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Golden Eagle Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was <br />submitted by Basin Resources, Inc. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations <br />initiate from this date of Sling. This revision to the permit adds text discussion regarding the need for a <br />groundwater point-ofcompliance. It also reduces the frequency of hydrologic monitoring related to the flooding <br />of the mine workings, from a monthly requirement to a quarterly requirement. <br />This reclaimed, former underground coal mining operation is located approximately 20 miles West of Trinidad, <br />Colorado. The permit azea is fw-ther described as follows: In all or portions of Sections 15-22, and Sections 27-34 <br />of T33S, R67W; and Sections 3 and 4 of T34S, R67W. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS <br />7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Vigil. <br />No changes regarding the fish and wildlife plan aze proposed. Water quality should not be affected by the <br />revision. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been deemed complete. <br />At the time of publication of [his notice, the applicant is additionally required to place a copy of this application at <br />the Las Animas County Courthouse, 200 East First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and at [he Division <br />office.
