How was this estimate
calculated and what steel debris will be buried? !s Kerr planning to sell any equipment to scrap
dealers?
Response: When Kerr was ini[ially exploring options for modification of tipple reclamation
plans to address the loss of potential disposal sites, Kerr provided Jim Burnell with an
informal memo (J. The figure for estimated volume of steel demolition debris is based on the
following calculations, included in the 7/97 memo, and reFlects significant conservatism:
• Shop Utility Building - 45,240 h' (to be retained for planned postmining land
use, see response to Comment 8)
• Crusher/Breaker - 52,500 ft' (will probably be sold for salvage)
• Baghouse - 7,500 ft'
• Tool Shack - 3,960 k'
• Switchhouse - 2,000 fr'
• Train Loadout - 18,000 ft~
• Conveyors - 8,125 fr` (will probably be sold for salvage)
• Fueling Station - 2,000 ft`
• Culverts - 620 ft'
P.G.
