iii iuiiiiiiiiii iii
999
•
IiINOR REVISION 24
VARIANCE ON CONTEMPORANEOUS RECLAMATION OF "A" & "B" PITS
How that mining is no longer taking place, bath "A" and "B"
Pits have been reclaimed to 5' (five feet) above the 25 year
reestablished water table calculations and both pits meet aeh
disposal regulatory criteria.
Presently, approximately 30,000 tons of fly ash and bottom
ash are disposed in these nits per veer: which equals about 2
(two) acres per year that ere backfilled and graded.
Placement of topsand on such small areas often restricts
movement of heavy equipment. Coors Energy Company ("CEC")
anticipates that when 30-40 acres ere available for
topsandinq, fertilizing. and revegetation, it will be done.
CEC estimates that this will only happen once during a five
year period.
• Consequently. CEC is requesting a variance from the 180 day
rule for contemporaneous reclamation for both "A" 8 "B" pits
and requests that this be extended for five veers from date
of approval. CEC is sincere in its plans to reclaim the
Heenesbvra site, whether it be a solid waste disposal or
ceased mining site.
The only deviation tram the fore mentioned plane at this
time. are the disposal of construction debris from the coal
crusher, coal storage, coal load-out facilities and equipment
wash facility. The non-resalable or non-recyclable portion
of these facilities will be backfill into the Dits. Timeline
for this reclamation will be late 1994 or the first half of
1995.
• -123a- 2/94
