C~
1
3.4 Pre-Sampling Activities and Reports
Pre-sampling activities (Task I) could include: preparing for sampling at th site by taking
' a 16-40 hour Mine, Safety and Health Act course on cyanide safety, and rea " g of relevant
background materials about the facility, including the permits and proceed' s from public
and Board hearings.
' Written reports will be made to the Contract Administrator at the Mined Lan Reclamation
Division. The initial report (Task 2) will address the sampling and analytical protocol
' document, and could be completed before the first scheduled sampling. mments on all
aspects of the sampling and analytical methodology could be addressed, including the
number of parameters (i.e., inclusion of additional metals) to be dete fined in the
' monitoring program, analytical methods for free cyanide, decontamination ocedures, etc.
Subsequent reports (Task 3; Note: Task 3 also includes the sampling i elf) would be
' signiScantly shorter, and would include the analytical resulu reported fr m the chosen
laboratory, with comments on unusual or unexpected results, and further re mmendations
' for sampling changes, if dictated by the analytical results. i
' 3.5 Personnel '
This proposal is submitted assuming that Ann Maest would be the only thin -party sampler
' participating from RCG/Hagler, Bailly, Inc. Time is budgeted for administr five/secretarial
assistance with reports and administrative duties from personnel at RCG/I-Ia er, Bailly, Inc.
' 3.6 Work and Equipment not Included in Budget
The project description requires that the third-party sampler would report as duected by the
Division to the Contract Administrator and to the Mined Land Recla anon Board.
Reporting may also include expert testimony. As it is not known at this t e how much
* effort the reporting will involve, no specific hours have been included for thi in the budget.
e It is understood that any reporting to the Division or the Boazd would be bill don an hourly
basis (see Budget). If expert testimony is required, time for this may be b' ed at a slightly
' higher hourly rate. Special Seld equipment requved for site visits, for exa~tple steel-toed
boots, are not included in the Budget.
1

' RCG/Hagier, L3ailty, Inc.
