III Iililllllllll III
999 STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Gove
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Director
May 20, 1988
Mr, Lane Baker
Baldwin Construction
c/o Holiday Inn
Trinidad, CO 81082
Re: Trinidad Basin Mine (Permit No, 81-D48) Map of the Reclaimed Areas
Dear Mr, Baker:
During our conversation in Trinidad on May 11, 1988, you expressed interest in
having a copy of the Division's map of the Trinidad Basin Mine permit area on which
the areas of reclaimed mined land are noted. You had indicated a willingness to
illustrate on the map where and to what extent your firm had disturbed or intended
to disturb any of the reclaimed area. I am enclosing a copy of that map with the
Division's request that you do provide us with such information, We would also
greatly appreciate your outlining those 35-acre tracts into which you are dividing
your property that will encompass reclaimed area, even if no roads or home sites
are presently planned on the reclaimed portion of the tract,
As I indicated in our conversation, Trinidad Basin Mining Company is held
responsible by the Division for reclamation of the Trinidad Basin Mine, It would
be most helpful to us in resolving the problem created for them by your activities
to know the nature and extent of those activities, Hopefully, it may be possible
to relieve Trinidad Basin Mining of their obligations for the area of your
disturbance over which they have no control. In order to do so, however, we need
reasonably accurate representation of what those areas will be.
If you have any further questions or if I may be of any additional assistance in
this matter, please contact me.
Sincerely,
JeCMtto ~ ~"~Cal,.-~~
James C.
