POWDERHORN
COAL COMPANY
March 31, 1997
Mr. Dan Mathews
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
2148 Broadway, #C-5
Grand Junction, CO 81503
Re: NOV C-97-001, C-81-041
Dear Mr. Mathews:
P.O. Box 1430
Palisatle, Color4tlo 81526
(970) 4647951
Fa>t (970) 464-7167
Powderhorn Coal Company is requesting an extension of time for
abatement of the subject NOV. Due to time restraints in the
permitting process, this task cannot be accomplished by April 1,
1997, and at this point, I do not believe that it can be
permitted and implemented within the 90 day abatement restraints
of a NOV.
The primary sticking point at this time is the stability analysis
required by the regs. We have contacted a couple of geotechnical
consultants and both have given us a 4 - 6 week schedule once a
Purchase Order has been issued. We believe that we can issue a
Purchase Order this week, which takes us to the first week in
May, at best, for submission of a response to your adequacy
issues to our TR-22 Application. Subsequent to issuance of the
Decision, we have the 10 day public review period and the
installation time.
Thanks for your help in this matter. Please let me know if you
have any further questions.
Sincer ,
Larry M. Reschke
En neer
.___, ~~I II~II~II~III~ I~~
sss
LMR:lmr
