.. 3.
r _~c
The excavated area can be refilled with large diameter rip-rap covered with
coarse gravel (2-inch crushed rock). The rip-rap and gravel should extend
above the elevation of the seepage at least 3 feet and be provided with an
outlet to the pond.
4. Fill above the rip-rap can consist of native sand or clay soils, crushed rock,
or bedrock which has been broken down to soil sized material. Materials
from the existing slide mass should be suitable for re-use provided they
are comparatively dry. We do not recommend incorporating significant
quantities of claystone or claystone derived soils into the fill. The fill
should be placed in thin lifts of 8 to 12 inches and compacted with several
passes of heavy equipment. Final grading should provide good drainage
of surface water out of the area and into the pond. The slope above the
slide should be flattened as much as practical and re-vegetated.
Stockpiling of topsoil, or other surcharges should not be placed in this
area in the future.
Our observations and recommendations were prepared using methods and
procedures consistent with other professionals practicing geotechnical engineering in this
area at this time. No other warranty, express or implied, is made. We hope this provides
the information you require. If you have questions, please call.
Very truly yours,
CTL(T'HOMPSON, IN REGiST
~~~ ' ~ ~ Gq~~9~0
Gray, F
Manage
Reviewed by:
`~ -C
Ronald M.
