Technical Revision # 4
DMG Permit Number M-99-002
Yankee Gulch Sodium Minerals Project
American Soda L. L. P. began an extensive monitoring program in association
with permitting its' solution mining protect to characterize the ground water of
Yankee Gulch in the Piceance Creek drainage. The baseline monitoring began
in 1999, 15 months prior to initiation of Phase 1 Commercial Production. In
cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, the Environmental Protection
Agency, and the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology a monitoring
network was established that included wells up-gradient, down-gradient, and
cross-gradient from proposed Commercial Production wells located in the 0-5
year mining panel. A chart of relative pump set elevations regarding the
monitoring wells is shown in Figure 1. The chart of pump set elevations provides
a graphic overview of the various water bearing zones. Information on the wells
and well locations are summarized in Table 1. A map of the layout of the wells is
provided in Figure 2. Following the map is a schematic diagram (Figure 3) of the
placement of the wells in perspective to the 0-5 year mining panel.
Figure 1 below shows the relative pump set elevations for each of the monitoring
wells. The wells are grouped according to the aquifer and zone. Only one
alluvial well 19-3 is not represented on this diagram. Well 19-3 is a shallow well
down gradient of the proposed site of the evaporation pond.
Figuro 1 -Pump Sot Elevotlons
eye:, ,.,,.
.. ,
,
~
asn.r a
`-,1 .,,
,
r 6JO,~
l;
J 61^S
0
~
A ~~
a Alluvial
i
5»?
B
g 55JJ ~ Uinta

~ ~?? .
G
6 A GfOOYB
A
= 51Ju
W B 6100 ~!
a40O
UUO ~ DU~olutlOn
a5M
' ~= 1 3 3 ° S 'v Y 4.
M1 ,. ! .. .. .. .. r .~ .-.
