Ground water monitoring began in September 1999 and continued on a monthly
frequency for 15 months to provide baseline data that would characterize the
aquifers prior to commercial mining activity. Following the beginning of
commercial operations in October 2000, the monitoring program continued on a
monthly basis and to date includes over 15 operational quarters of ground water
data from each sampling location.
The following table shows the current constituents included in the ground water
monitoring program, the EPA method used for the analysis, the regulatory
standard from Regulation 41 and the classification of the standard from the
regulation. The ground water monitoring constituent list is provided in Table 2.
"'"'"""'"'' Standard
Method Standard from Classification
o,,,.,,~.,~,,,., ~,
Iron, dissolved M200.7 ICP 0 3
Manganese, dissolved M200.8 ICP-MS
Selenium, dissolved

0 O5

0.002 Secondary Drinking
Water
Human Health

0.1 Human Health

0.02 ~ Agricultural
---- L _--------------
0.05
I _ Human Health
