D04155GE
The theoretical factor of safety of the cross section analyzed is about 1.04. Unfortunately due to
the scale of the cross section it is difficult to see that the critical failure surface occurred on the
erosional head scarp on the slope, but it was easy to make the distinction of the failure surface on
the computer screen during the analysis. The result is quite predictable, since it is obvious that
periodic raveling of the head scarp is occurring.
We analyzed the global stability long the same cross section by defining the potential critical
surface away from the head scarp. This analysis is shown below
~Ttt~?EYt FIITL~ ~fSf3DL`[~ItP33
CONSULTING GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERS AND
'6- MATERIALS TESTING
