Box 897 Division Director <br />Craig, CO 81626 <br />Re: Mine 2, C-81-071, Bond Release Inspection <br />Dear Mr. George: <br />Thank you for accompanying the Phase II and III Bond Release Inspection for Colorado Yampa Coal <br />Company's Mine 2 area, that was conducted Ociober 14, 1997. The Division appreciates landowner <br />inputs and concerns regarding permitted lands that are eligible for reclamation liability bond release. <br />As per Section 3.03.2(3) of the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal <br />Mining <br />Any person with a valid legal interest which may be adversely affected by release of the <br />bond,...shall have the right to file written objections to or comments upon the requested release <br />from bond and file a request for an informal conference with the Division...within thirty (30) days <br />of the completed inspection. Upon receipt of any such comments, copies thereof shall be <br />transmitted to the permittee. <br />Items discussed during the October 14, 1997 inspection affecting lands owned by Cross Mountain Ranch <br />included; 1) removal of timbers containing spikes on the east side of Pond M downslope of the spoil <br />springs, 2) placement of additional rock material at southern drainage inlet at Pond M, 3) placement of <br />rock check dams in down cut locations of Western collection ditch at the Northern section of the bond <br />release Western Block. Enclosed please find a copy of the Division's inspection report from the bond <br />release inspection. <br />Colorado Yampa Coal Company initiated the noted repairs on October 16, 1997. The Division will <br />conduct a follow up inspection upon notification by Colorado Yampa Coal Company that the repairs have <br />been completed. Upon scheduling afollow-up inspection 1 will contact you to confirm if you choose to <br />accompany on the follow-up to assure repairs have been carried out satisfactorily.
