Y
•
Mr. Hamlett J. Barry
September 7, 1979
Page Two
Preparation of stockpile areas immediately before each of these cuts and
reclamation immediately following each will take place.
Water Truck Loading Area
The source of water for dust control is a well permitted by the Colorado
Engineer's office. For storage capacity, the Rockcastle Company pumps
from the well into an existing stockpond and loads the water truck from
the stockpond. The stockpond is located in the valley above the old
office area and the Rockcastle Company has been loading its water truck
byepulling to the side of the haul road and using a siphon action to load
the truck from the pond. For safety, the Rockcastle Company would like
to convert the old office area into a roadside pull-off so the water truck
could get off the haul road to load. No additional disturbance area is
involved, but reclamation of this area will not take place until the end
of the mine life. At the end of the mine life, this area will be regraded
to approximate original contour, topsoil spread over it to a depth of 12"
• or more, and reseeded with the permitting seeding mixture. The pull-off
would be gravelled and packed. Since a ditch alongside the haul road col-
lects runoff from this area, and since there are adequate sediment control
devices in the ditch, no additional sediment control is planned.
If I can answer any questions regarding this technical revision request,
please feel free to call.
Very truly yours,
~~ r~~
~/om
Tommy Ray
mcr
cc: Mr. Don Mallory
Mr. Bill Zabel
