Long o~~~siun Dveanr The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section I I8, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on November 29, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Foidel Creek Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. This revision proposes the next 5 year mine plan, in a area referred to as the Northern Mining District. This proposed expansion calls for room and pillar mining and longwall mining. No new surface disturbance is proposed with this revision, other than that associated with underground mine subsidence. The mine plan proposes to affect the Fish Creek and it's associated alluvial valley floor.-.The mine expansion will add 2779.2 acres of affected area. The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 23 miles southwest of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: In portions of Sections 7, 8, 9, T4W, R86W; Sections 32 and 33, T6N, R86W; Sections 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 34, 35 and 36 in TSN, R87 W; and all of TSN, R86W with the exception of Sections 34, 35, and 36. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Rattlesnake Butte. A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Routt County Courthouse, Box 773598, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, and at the Division office.
