C-93-024 Abatement Extension
Ms. Susan Burgmaier November 23, 1993
CDMG
1313 Sherman St.
Room 215
Denver, CO 80203-2273
Dear Ms. Burgmaier,
Enclosed, please find three copies of a revised page for Appendix
4.6-M of the Edna Mine permit (C-80-001). This page has been
altered to satisfy the Division's concerns regarding the 1st and
4th quarter monitoring exemptions on the check dam structures
referenced in the revision.
The removal of the 1st and 4th quarter monitoring exemptions
granted in 1985 on the sediment pond embankments will be addressed
soon in another Minor Revision. This matter was also mentioned in
your letter, November 16, 1993. This revision will be submitted to
the Division prior to the deadline for 4th quarter monitoring so
that the requirement for inspections in each quarter can be met.
P&M also formally requests, via this letter, an extension to the
abatement time for NOV C-93-024. The abatement of this violation
called for submitting a Technical Revision to address drainage on
the Goat Trail and implementation of that plan. The T.R. for the
Goat Trail has been approved and several of the design structures
have been completed. The mine, however, is now receiving severe
winter weather and the ability to complete the remaining items is
doubtful until spring. For this reason an extension on the
abatement time is requested until the area can be safely accessed
with the necessary equipment. At your request, I have also
enclosed pictures of the areas where work has been done on the Goat
Trail plan. The snow cover was about 8 inches deep in the area
when the pictures were taken so there is not a great amount of
detail shown.
Should you have any questions regarding these matter, please
contact me at the Edna Mine site.
Sinc ely,
~~'-~~
David Beverlin
Resident Engineer
