visit, TCC has spent a tremendous amount of time and money in providing additional roof support so that
the current panel can be mined. Without invesring in this additional support the panel would not be mined.
The outcome would be leaving the longwall equipment where it is and loosing the mine. TCC cannot
continue to take this kind of risk and incur these costs so that it can extract coal from this steep section of
the mine. In addition to the roof support requirements you observed, the out of seam dilution was also
evident at the longwall face. Given the current conditions, TCC does not anticipate improvement in
conditions which would warrant the mining of future panels in this zone of the eaztem mining district. It
should be noted that at some point in the future these reserves could be mined if technological advances
occur in longwall mining and roof control. TCC is not stating that it will mine the coal but advances could
evolve which may allow this in the furure.
The attached mine plan map depicts the panels, submains and gateroads TCC will use to exhaust the
reserves in this mining area. This map is included with the technical revision TCC submitted to [he
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology requesting a change in its mine plan. The Division should be
approving the revision in the near furure.
If there is further information needed to respond to this request pleaze feel free to contact either Gary
Buchan ((970)870-2709) or myself ((970)870-2712) at your convenience.
