~~~ _ .
TRAPPER ~ININ6 INC.
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
June 11, 1996
Mr. Joseph J. Dudash R~(`~(VE~
Environmental Protection Specialist Jul 1 4 1336
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215 DIVISI()R
Denver, CO 80203 Ot 1"~oefdl~ & Guuiogy
Dear Joe,
Subj: Trapper Mioe, Permit No. C-81-010, Minor Revision MR-]47
Topsoil Haulage Route to Topsoil Stockpile D-77-1.
To complete topsoil replacement activities in Derringer Pit this year, Trapper will need to utilize topsoil stockpile
D-77-1 (see Appendix W, 1995 Annual Report). Haulage routes will be established across areas previously
replaced with topsoil and seeded to perennial species. The enclosed Figure MR 147-1, shows the locations of the
haulage routes. Not all of the stockpile will be required for [he 1996 laydown area. Consequently, the remainder
of the stockpile will be moved to [he recontoured spoils and stockpiled for future use. Approximate locations of the
new stockpiles are shown in Section 5.0 of Trapper's 1995 Annual Report. This move will allow reclamation of
the stockpile and road areas while placing the material closer for use in reclamation in Derringer Pit.
Topsoil will be removed from the routes and placed adjacent to the area. The routes will be approximately 80 feet
wide and total 8375 feet in length. The stockpile will be depleted this summer and the roads reclaimed shortly
after work is complete. Seeding will follow this fall.
The first portion of the road leading from the D-77-1 stockpile falls within a narrow corridor of Trapper's Permit
Boundary. No sediment control structures are in place to prevent runoff reaching outside the permit boundary
from the resulting road work. Therefore, silt control sWCtures made of straw bales or small berms will be con-
structed to "treat" runoff prior to leaving the area. This combination of structures will be used to direct runoff to
points where straw bale filters will block sediment discharge.
Total disturbance for [he roads to move the stockpile is approximately 15.4 acres. Bond estimates [o replace topsoil
and seed this small azea are included within the Bonding package being submitted under Trapper's mid-term
review. This cos[ is included within [he costs requested by the Division concerning previous minor revisions.
]oe, please contact me if you have any questions concerning this request. We would like to begin later this month
on preparing the access road so work can be accomplished in a timely manner
Sincerely, I
~r(~%7~~:~Y
Forrest V.
