structures, mining will be conducted beneath the lines. SCC will assure that equipment
heights do not exceed height limitations as specified in the letter from WAPA. For the
sake of simplicity, the area around the structures is included in the Permit Area.
Natural Gas Lines. There are two natural gas lines that run through or near the property
including one 3-inch line and one 6-inch line. The 6-inch line cuts diagonally across the
western section of the Permit Area. The 3-inch line runs east and west just north of the
Permit Area. Western Slope Gas Company holds a 50-foot wide right-of-way on each
gas line. SCC has agreed not to mine nearer than 30 feet to the gas lines. Here again, in
order not to slice up or leave windows in the Permit Area, the gas line has been included
within the permit boundary.
Telephone Lines. A telephone line runs just north of the permit boundary. This will not be
disturbed by mining operations.
Buildings. A few buildings associated with an old farmstead still remain on the site. Most
of the structures are in a deteriorated condition due to lack of maintenance. One
structure, a barn, is in relatively good condition. These structures will not be disturbed by
mining operations.
Sediment Ponds. The Permit Area straddles a minor drainage divide corresponding to
the eastern edge of the main WAPA 230KV powerlines which cross the site. To the east
of this divide, all disturbed area drainage flows to the existing sedimentation pond and is
discharged through CPDES Discharge Point 001. As-built drawings for the original pond
are provided as Exhibit G-2. As part of the initial Phase I expansion, the original
sedimentation pond was enlarged to handle increased drainage from the expanded
disturbance area. Exhibit G-3 illustrates the revised pond design configuration. Pond
design calculations for the existing sedimentation pond are provided in Appendix G-1.
Runoff from the Phase II expansion area to the west of the drainage divide will flow to a
new sedimentation pond and discharge through CPDES Discharge Point 002. Design
information and drawings for the new sedimentation pond are provided in Appendix G-4
• and Exhibit G-4, respectively. A significant amount of water has accumulated in the
existing active pit area and ongoing pit inflows are anticipated as gravel extraction
D-2 Revised May 1998
