The
records start with a table dated October 1979, which is an
inventory of the transformers at the Somerset Mine and the PCB -
concentration of each. Annual reports through 1985 tabulate the
transformers remaining in service and disposed of during the
period.. A memo dated July 8, 1986 shows that transformer 5-004 and ___
some capacitors were disposed of during 1986. Finally, an invoice
from USEcology shows that 7 transformers were disposed of during
1987.
The records indicate that only one PCB contaminated
transformer, 5-011, remains on site. This transformer has a PCB
concentration of 180 ppm which indicates that flushing and retro-
filling would probably be successful in reducing its PCB
concentration to less that 50 ppm. Somerset does not have a recent
price quote for the retro-filling process.
Please call if you have
information.
any questions regarding this
Sincerely,
Jim Stove P.E.
Consulting Engineer
Enclosure
cc: Basil Bear, w/o encl.
--
- -- --- -
