• ~ i
Memo - Larry Oehler - M-88-112 - 2 - June 15, 1992
The Santa Fe Formation, which comprises the first significant aquifer
below the collection pond and tailings facility, is a unit with
considerable lithologic variability. Individual beds within the
formation are highly lenticular. It is useful for purposes of
understanding the hydrogeology of the area, determining the adequacy of
the monitoring, and evaluating the remediation potential of the proposed
monitoring network, that correlations and characteristics of the Santa Fe
beds 6e established for the area in question. Such correlations, etc.
might be more easily made if the proposed drill holes were geop~hysically
logged. Reportedly, a number of relatively deep condemnation hales
drilled well into or thru the Santa Fe Formation in this area were
geophysically logged.
The operator should commit to run the same suite of geophysical logs of
the proposed new monitoring wells that were run for the condemnption
wells in the area.
JCS/ern
3445E
