' APPENDIX A
~/pJ~j"~ DEFINITION OF TERMS
111"'
Table Standards: Water quality standards adopted for domestic use by the
Colorado Water Quality Commission (Tables 1, 2 and 4, SCCR 1002-8).
Permit Condition Values: Water quality parameter values by which compliance
with BMRI's permit will be judged. Permit Condition Values will equal the Table
Standard where ambient data are below the Table Standard. Where ambient data
are above the Table Standards for a given parameter at a given well, Permit
Condition Values will be set individually for each well. Permit Condition Values will be
set for each indicator parameter at each point of compliance.
Indicator Parameter: Water quality parameters to be used for evaluation of
compliance. These parameters are iron, manganese, sulfate, TDS, and pM. Weak
acid dissociable (WAD) cyanide will also serve as an indicator parameter fbr those
wells in the vicinity of the mill and tailings disposal areas.
Water Quality Monitoring Parameter: The full suite of water quality paramieters to
be tested for on a quarterly basis (see Table 2). This suite include the six indicator
parameters, which will be used for compliance monitoring. The remaining water
quality monitoring parameters will be utilized for evaluation of any trends which could
indicate a potential ground water quality problem at the site.
Points of Compliance: The wells and lysimeters located on site and set forth in the
Ground Water Monitoring Plan where indicator parameter data will be evaluated for
compliance with Permit Condition Values.
