Box 1488
Paonia, CO 81428
Dear Mr. Sieber,
DEC 13 2000
Division olMinerals 8 Geology
The errand A.4esa-Uncompahgre-Gunnison National Forests (GMUG) has performed inspections of the reclaimed
drill sites from Bowie's 2000 exploration drilling program. The GMUG accepts the reclamation for the year,
however there aze some items that will have to be restored next year. They are as follows:
I) Depending on the success of seeding, it may be necessary to place additional seed on the reclaimed areas to
ensure adequate cover is obtained. The GMUG will evaluate this need in the summer 2001 growing season.
2) Dirt berms that were created during road work on the access roads to sites 8 and 10 were not pulled in. These
berms will need to be pulled back and smoothed aver. Bowie will need to complete this work next summer.
On another matter, Bowie completed some of the exploration drill holes as monitoring wells as required by the State
of Colorado. Another hole was left available for completion as a gob ventilation borehole. The GMUG was not
made aware of these plans until after the holes were completed. This has raised issues regarding the access needs for
monitoring, which have not been addressed or authorized by the GMUG.
Bowie has submitted a letter (dated December 5, 2000 from Greg Hunt) requesting access to these sites for
monitoring. These access issues need to be resolved, and the GMUG will be evaluating Bowie's needs in the next
fe~v weeks. In the future, it will be necessary for Bowie to notify the GMUG with plans for monitor well
completions in exploration drill holes, and access needs will need to be pre-planned. Plans for next sutrtmer's
drilling, along with plans for monitor well completions, and long term access needs will need to be discussed with
the GMUG prior to starting additional drilling activity.
Please ensure that [he items brought forward in this letter are included in Bowie's work plans for next summer. If
you have any questions, please contact Liane Mattson or myself at the telephone number listed above.
Sincerely,
~u~r J.~~
SUSAN J.
