Doerfer
RE: Sediment Basin Design, Snyder Quarry CAP, File No. M-77-210
I reviewed the responses to Items 5, 6, 7 and 8 on the sediment pond design
provided by Oberring, Wirth, and Associates on April 20, 1990. My Comments
following review are provided below:
5. We asked for clarification on the reclamation plan for the pond. As a
temporary structure, the pond would not remain after mining ~1nd would be
regraded and seeded.
6. The discrepancy between runoff area and area contributing seriment for
the purposes of pond design was adequately addressed.
7. Our suggestion to include only a clean-out level marker rather than a
staff gage was accepted.
8, The operator was not averse to reporting volume of sediment removed when
clean out is performed, however, you may want to modify our response as
per Bruce's suggestion.
In summary, no adequacy concerns remain on these aspects of the pond design
proposed as a part of the Corrective Action Plan. The previous commitment to
provide as-built drawings of the pond within 60 days of completion of
construction is all that remains to be satisfied.
J TD/yj b
cc: Bruce Humphries
6464E
