If the federal agency and the <br />applicant determine that there are depletions associated with Lafarge North Amenca's proposed <br />future aggregate mining project, the federal agency should request tntttation of formal sectton 7 <br />consultatton in a letter to my office. A request for mttJat~on of formal section 7 consultation on <br />water-related projects associated with depletions to the central Platte River should include a <br />complete project description including water-related project elements and origin of water <br />associated with the proposed protect; an estimate of the amount and timing (b month) of <br />sverage annual water depletion (both existing and new depletions); and describe methods of <br />arriving at such estimates. Completion of the consultation will be based on the date of receipt of <br />the infonnation required to conduct the consultation. <br />If a formal section 7 consultation is required, the Service will make every effort to accommodate <br />the applicant's schedules to prevent protect delays. If your office or the applicant would like to <br />discuss the proposed project Jn relatton to Platte River system depletive issues in Colorado, <br />please contact Sandy Vana-Miller of my staff at (303) 275-2370. <br />Please note that this Preble's cleazance is valid for one yeaz from the date of this letter. Should <br />additional information on listed or proposed species become available, this determination may be <br />reconsidered under the ESA.
