In addition, we have provided you with <br />photographs of the current operation. We have forwarded this material to you <br />to assist you in investigating and subsequently prohibiting the surface mining <br />operation by Robinson Brick & Tile which is currently in violation of Douglas <br />County 7oninn Resolutions. More particularly, Robinson Rrick & Tile Company's <br />current surface mining operation, which surface mining had not been conducted <br />on the property since the early r95o's, constitutes a new nonconforming use of <br />the property. <br />In reference to the materials already sent to you and in your possession, you <br />should note the letter under date of December 30, r98o sent to the Mined Land <br />Reclamation Division by Michael G. Leidlich, Mines Manager for Robinson Brick <br />& Tile Company. In this letter, Mr. Leidlich represents and I quote: "The <br />underground mine at the Hogback is still in operation. Although there are no <br />accurate records available, 1 believe the surface operations ceased somewhere <br />in the early 5o's."
