The line will be installed from the western cell of the Fish creek
Borehole treatment facility and terminate at the 7 North Escape Shaft or the 10 Right
Waterline. Along the course of the line 5 manholes will be installed to allow for using the
mine water for stock watering. Except for approximately 2550' of the line, it will be
constructed in existing road corridors. The 2550' of line will be installed in lands
previously mined and reclaimed by Colorado Yampa Coal Company. These lands have
received Phase III bond release. The line will be a buried so there will be no reclamation
work associated with the line after it is installed. The only structures associated with the
system are the pump and its controls in the pump house located on the western cell of the
existing treatment system and two new power poles and line from the existing substation.
It is planned to continue using the treatment system so that iron concentrations do not
become problematic underground.
