NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to Approve Technical Revision Application
No. 20 (TR-20) for the Munger Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-020), submitted by CAM Mining,
LLC. This technical revision application would revise the Munger Canyon Mine permit boundary to
incorporate a segment of a reclaimed light use road that provided access to an emergency drill hole in the
adjacent McClane Canyon Mine permit area. In addition, the boundary would be revised to form a more
logical block surrounding the existing workings, and acreage listings would be corrected to eliminate
previous inaccuracies. Increased permit area acreage on federal land would be offset by acreage decrease
on private land (permit corridor along the mine entrance road would be reduced in width). The end result
of the various changes would be a 21 acre reduction of the permit azea. In addition, several alluvial
wells that aze no longer required for operational impact monitoring will be sealed and abandoned, as a
result of information provided in the application.
The Munger Canyon Mine is an underground coal mine located in Garfield County, approximately 18
miles north of Loma, Colorado. Coal interest is Federal, and the surface affected is Private land. The
permit azea encompasses approximately 1,028.00 acres.
This proposed decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will comply with all
requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-101, et seq., C.R.S.,
and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
Copies of the proposed decision, including stipulations, aze on file for public inspection at the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver,
Colorado 80203. Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may
request a fonnal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd on the proposed decision. Such
request must be made within ten (10) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and
must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed
decision.
