~~
~~ ~

PLANS FOR ABATEMENT OF VIOLATION #83-20
ng of sedimentation ponds to ensure that drain
ements wii~ oe met
On March 4, 1983 sedimentation pond B developed severe leaks, which
caused the water contained in that pond to drain into the active pit. 450,000
gallons of water were pumped from the pit into Mann Draw as a result of this
structural failure of pond B. Ponds A and C were functioning properly, but
were, due to the unusual amount of precipitation, near capacity at the tune
of discharge.
Pond B has been repaired and thus, should be able to contain the runoff
it was designed to handle (i.e. 1.7 acre-feet, 553,945 gallons). Repairs to the
pond included removal of stored sediment and lining of the pond bottom with
an impermeable clay material. All repairs were complete by June 17, 1983.
Repairs to ponds A and C are not necessary <.;ince both ponds function
properly. Enlargement of the sediment control sysi:em is not required because,
with pond B repaired, the present system is adequate to meet the drainage
control requirements at the mine site.

1) Modification and
2) Containment of pit water on the 6ourg propert
The Bourg mine sedimentation system is adequate to contain water
which discharges into the pit. Water which accumulates in the pit will
be pumped into an approved sediment pond or will be used on roads within
the property boundry for dust suppression.
..
