Squire, Reclamation Specialist
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215 RFrF1VED
Denver, Colorado 8020:3 JU1 3 2
1995
RE: WRNM Nahcolite Project Division or m,~,~,tls ~ Geology -n~ , d~~
Permit No. M-83-194
Technical Revision Request
Dear Mr. Squire:
White River Nahcolite Prlinerals (WRN) hereby submits a Technical Revision to
Permit No. M-83-194. 'The first request is for approval of two new production
wells and a core hole for cavity #5. The enclosed map illustrates new pads for
5-1H, 5-2V, core hole and access roads/product pipelines which are in Section
26, near south boundary line. The new areas (associated with cavity #5) for
disturbance in 1995 would total 6.1 acres (1.7 ac, for each pad or 3 X 1.7 =5.1
acres plus 1.0 acre for access roads and pipelines). Therefore, the disturbed
acreage through 1994 was 50.9 acres, plus acres from Technical Revision
(11-22-94), plus this Technical Revision o 6.1 acres, the total disturbed acres v
through 1995 would be 59.8 acres. Cavity 5 would be approximately 3500 feet
long and run west to east. Roads and pipelines would be run along a 40 foot
right-of--way.
The 1996 disturbance would include areas for future production wells associated
with cavity #6, and would disturb a total of 6.6 acres. The additional 6.6 acres
permitted and planned for 1996, would bring the total disturbed area to 66.4
acres. Total permitted and bonded disturbed area is based on 73 acres.
The second request under this Technical Revision is for approval of an existing
lined pit to dispose of waste sodium bicarbonate which is contaminated with
soil. The pit is approximately 6 feet deep and 40 by 80 feet in size. The pit
has a HDPE liner of 4f1 mil thickness, to limit percolation. When pit is a
minimum of 3 feet from original contour, a top liner (40 mils) will be installed
to limit percolation. Approximately 2 foot of subsoil and 12-18 inches of
topsoil will be used to cover the liner and provide growth medium for
revegetation.
White River IVahcollte Minerals, Limited Lfabiltty Company
P.
