NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to Approve With Conditions Technical
Revision Application No. 30 (TR-30) for the Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-1496-083), submitted by
Bowie Resources Limited. In Technical Revision No. 30, Bowie Resources Limited (BRL) is proposing
to construct a coal mine waste disposal site. This site will provide for the permanent storage of coal waste
from the preparation plant as well as high ash coal. The new site will be located just east of the current
coal mine waste disposal site and north of the old State Highway 133. Total disturbance will be about 34
acres in size and will be within the currently approved permit area and on land owned by BRL. Runoff
from this disturbed azea will be treated by a new sediment pond. After use, the disturbed azea will be
reclaimed.
The Bowie No. 2 Mine is an underground coal mine located in Delta County, approximately 5 miles NE
of Paonia, Colorado. Coal interest is Federal and private, and the surface affected is Federal and private
land. The permit azea encompasses approximately 5,076.00 acres.
This proposed decision is based on a Finding that the proposed operation will comply with all
requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-101, et seq., C.R.S.,
and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
Copies of the proposed decision, including stipulations, aze on file for public inspection at the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver,
Colorado 80203. Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may
request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd on the proposed decision. Such
request must be made within ten (10) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and
must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed
decision.
